If you are planning on buying a new lawn mower and are serious about your
lawn then you are going to want a petrol powered lawn mower as they are much
better than the electric mowers.
Firstly the petrol lawn mowers are more powerful and so
will cut through grass much quicker and more thoroughly than other lawnmowers.
This makes cutting the grass much easier and the time taken to mow your lawn
is greatly reduced and if you have long grass it makes mowing the lawn an
awful lot easier.
The seond major advantage with a petrol lawn mower is that there is no cable
dragging behind you and so this makes moving around allot easier, you have
a greater manouverability and can also go further than a cable would allow
and so you have much more freedom. The petrol lawn mowers also tend to not
use that much petrol and so it does not cost much to run a petrol lawn mower,
even with our petrol prices!
It is a fact, that most of us round the UK at least have access to, if not
own, a garden. Grassed areas should not be taken for granted, there's plenty
of work to be done in keeping up the garden, so you can best use the out
of doors space in the hot summer months.
They are often available with different power sources, including electrical, petrol and push along. The cutting action can be compared to that of the traditional scythe, which first appeared in Europe in the 12th and 13th centuries.
The slashing mechanism is perfect for dealing with the longest of grass.
The downside with Rotary lawnmowers is they don't create such a clean cut. The design has changed tiny over time. A fixed horizontal cutting blade is positioned just off the skin of the ground, the height being adjustable. Over this could be a fast spinning cylinder of blades. The spinning cylinder forces grass past the fixed horizontal blade, so shearing the grass in a scissor-like motion. Hover Lawnmowers : Hover lawnmowers use the same rotary cutting design as standard rotary lawnmowers. This turbine drives air downwards, therefore making an air cushion which lifts the lawnmower above the ground like a hovercraft.
They are frequently used in a sweeping left / right motion instead of the standard forwards / backwards motion. The downsides however, are that many hover mowers don't contain grass boxes, thanks to the duty of being light weight. You also will not get as cleaner cut with a hover mower, than you would with a cylinder alternative. Every one of the above types of lawnmower can typically come in 3 powers : petrol, electrical and push. Push mowers are only truly appropriate for small lawns ; otherwise the operator will soon get beat.
As the wheels are pushed along, gears drive the cutting mechanisms which
cut through your lawn. When purchasing an electric lawnmower, ensure you
have enough reach to deal with your lawn. Petrol lawn mowers are the best
for medium and big sized lawns. They give you the liberty to wander around,
and also provide that additional bit of power for working with thick grass.
